John Riley Jazz Drumming One Day Intensive

Critically acclaimed performer, author and teacher, John Riley has worked with the world's Workshop and the DVD The Master Drummer.John has a BM in Jazz Studies from the University of North Texas, 1975, and an MM in JazzStudies from the Manhattan School of Music, 1985. He is on the faculty of Manhattan School ofMusic and SUNY Purchase, an Artist in Residence at the Amsterdam Conservatory inHollandand has given master classes around the world.

This unique One-Day Jazz Drumming Intensive featuring NYC Jazz legend and educator John Riley is exclusive to Groove Warehouse! John has a Bachelor of Music degree in Jazz education from the University of North Texas and a Master of Music in Jazz studies from Manhattan School of Music. He is on the faculty of Manhattan School of Music, and SUNY Purchase, and is an Artist in Residence at Amsterdam Conservatory, Holland. John is also the author of The Art of Bop Drumming, Beyond Bop Drumming, The Jazz Drummer' Stan Getz, Milt Jackson, Miles Davis, Dizzy Gillespie, John Scofield, Bob Mintzer, Gary Peacock, Mike Stern, Joe Lovano, the Vanguard Jazz Orchestra, the Carnegie Hall Jazz Band, John Patitucci, Bob Berg, and many others!

Here are the things you will learn:

• Defining and developing hand techniques like Moeller, Push-pull and more!
• Exploring the Jazz drum sound
• Classic Jazz phrases
• How to personalise and update the classic Jazz language
• The Art of Brush playing
• Drum Set chart reading
• The drummer's role as an accompanist
• Bass and drum groove issues
• Students will have the opportunity to perform with a Jazz Trio
